Dear Norman & Traudl,
Life has been a bit chaotic here at Huber Cellars and Vineyards, and we
apologize for being so lax with communications to you. We have many
positive changes happening - our granddaughter Rebecca joining us, new
wines, and a bountiful and beautiful 2009 crop.
But the most important news is that Traudl has recently undergone a
successful kidney transplant and is feeling better and better each day.
Although it would be hard to know it given her upbeat attitude and
seemingly unending energy, she has been in declining health for some time.
Specialists advised that the only solution was a transplant and
unbelievably our neighbor Sally Rushing offered to be a donor. She was a
perfect match and offered this gift of health and life unwaveringly. We
are truly blessed to have such an incredible friend.
The surgery took place last month, and we have been spending much of
our time at our home in Long Beach to be close to doctors and to continue
to monitor Traudl's progress. We hope to be home at the vineyard full-time
the end of this month, as Traudl is very anxious to return to the peace of
the country!
Sally is recovering at her home near our vineyard. She is truly an
angel. We are so grateful to her, and the entire Rushing family.
So, life is good! And now, on to even more good news!

Our Tasting Room & Patio! |
 |
We are very pleased to announce that we are now open for public
tasting! Norman has built a little tasting room right off the patio on the
(wind sheltered) eastern side of the house and overlooking the vineyard,
we have received all the appropriate licenses and permits and our
grand-daughter Rebecca has moved to the area to help out!
Rebecca is studying enology, viticulture and Ag Business at the local
college and helping us out with tastings on weekends. We are open to the
public for tasting each Friday through Sunday, from 11:00 to 4:00. We are
offering our full lineup of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder for
tasting and sale, and sometimes will even open one of our pre-release
Reserve wines!
So we hope when you are in the area, you'll stop by. We'd love to
introduce you to Rebecca and catch up with your news and ours over a glass
of Huber Cellars wine!

New Wines Released |
 |
We couldn't wait to release our 2007 Pinot Noir! It received 91 points
from Wine Spectator and a Gold Medal in an International Wine Competition.
We are now pouring this wine in the tasting room (and we also have some of
the 2006 still available, which is aging beautifully!). 2007 was a
wonderful vintage, and the wine is certainly reflective of that stellar
season.
For you Dornfelder Fans out there, we are now sold out of our 2005
Dornfelder and have released the 2006 vintage. It is not quite as
fruit-forward as the showy 2005 vintage, and has a bit more of a masculine
profile, full of dark fruit, molasses and spice, but beautifully balanced
in acidity and tannin.
