A pale, spun straw color with subtle chartreuse highlights that glint in the glass. A swirl produces a lively bouquet of
lemongrass, key lime blossom and asian pear. On the palate, there is
a nice roundness of lemon curd balanced with the lively acidity of citrus. Additional nuances of honeydew melon, just ripe apricot and lemon verbena merge with the unmistakable stony minerality so typical of Huber Chardonnay.

Estate Chardonnay 2008 Unoaked
Unoaked Chardonnays are all about the fruit.
If you don't have beautiful, perfect fruit that is the epitome of the
varietal, this style is simply not attempted. The 2008 Chardonnay "Unoaked" is both an illustration of the grape and of the 2008 vintage. Concentrated
flavors of Granny Smith apples and Anjou pears
on the nose are whisked across the
palate with a zippy crispness and lilting
acidity. The gravelly, mineral laden
note of the vineyard mingles with a
subtle tropicality reminiscent of just
ripe pineapple and kumquats. Hints
of curry spice and lemongrass linger
on the finish. Brisk and refreshing, superb
with fish!

Estate Chardonnay 2006 Barrel Fermented
This is a gorgeously rich, stylish and graceful wine.
Lush exotic fruit on the nose are interlaced
with nuances of vanilla and clove from
the French oak. A silky, luxurious texture
glides across the palate delivering notes
of ripe pear, stone fruit and a hint of
tangelo that mingle with the flinty characteristic
of the vineyard. Lively acidity balances the fruit, and the finish is lasting, refreshing and demanding of a second sip.
The 2006 Chardonay pairs extremely well with rich seafood dishes such as scallops or crab, as well as poultry dishes with
cream sauces. It is also delightful on its own as an aperitif!
Serve just slightly chilled for maximum enjoyment.

Estate Pinot Noir 2006
An opalescent magenta color first hints
at the concentrated flavors of the vintage.
Provide a good, aggressive swirl in your burgundy wine
glass to unleash the bright cherry and dried strawberry
notes of the wine's bouquet. A first taste reveals additional
notes of raspberry, smoke and peppery spice,
all enveloped in a silky and soft texture.
There is a nice lift of bright acid on
the finish, which reinforces the cherry
notes along with hints of cola and whole
clove.
We recoommend decanting this wine and allowing it to breathe a little before tasting, and it definitely is a wine that shines
with food. The 2006 Pinot Noir is enjoyable now, but will
continue to improve with cellaring.

Estate Pinot Noir 2007
Already lauded by wine critics, the 2007 estate
Pinot Noir sports a lively dark cherry color, with "new ruby" highlights. A swirl produces a bouquet of classic "pinotesque"
notes: cola, blueberry, black cherry, a hint
of coffee and earthy reminders of land
and sea. A first sip rewards the palate
as the wine's smooth and silky texture
glides over the taste buds with flavors
of cranberry, red plum skin, red rhubarb
and spicy allusions to clove. All the
while the lilting acidity lifts the wine,
while soft tannins linger and mingle with
lasting berry and spice.
Will cellar well for the next 3-4 years; right now it pairs superbly with friends and a good meal.

Estate Dornfelder 2006
The first impression is the astounding, inky
color of the wine - its signature trait. Almost black, the dark
indigo wine sports reddish-purple edges. A swirl produces glycerin-like "legs" as the wine cascades its deep color down
the sides of the glass and unleashes a
perfumed nose of violets mingling with
sweet tobacco leaf, camphor and rich earth.
The velvety texture glides the wine across
the palate with framboise, pepper spice
and red plum skin mingling with blueberry
and dried fig, along with a hit of black
strap molasses at the finish.
Beautiful, bright acidity and superb balance make this a wine that will pair beautifully with grilled meats and rich, ripe, soft cheeses.
Will continue to improve with 3-5 years of additional cellaring. Guten Apetit and Enjoy!

Estate Dornfelder 2006 Charlotte's Reserve
Inky dark, with glycerin like "legs" coating the
glass, the 2006 Dornfelder is still a bit more purplish, dark amethyst hue than in past vintage. On the nose, smokey notes mix with concentrated berry and coffee bean aromas along with a hint of menthol that livens up the bouquet, A nice soft entry coats the palate prettily with high-toned notes of
concentrated raspberry and "framboise" like flavors, along with a bit of blackberry jam. A nice pleasant finish with beautifully balanced, bright acids and soft tannins. Ready to enjoy now, but will age nicely
for the next 3-5 years. Cheers for Charlotte!
Charlotte’s Reserve is a two-barrel reserve bottling of 2006 Dornfelder that features a hand-waxed seal and special label. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Santa Ynez Humane Society.

Hafen 2008
The name “Hafen” - German for "port" gives you the clue - a wine made from Dornfelder grapes that
have been left in the vineyard to develop extra sugar and
flavors. The result is a great dessert wine with an intriguing
balance of fruit, sweetness, acidity and tannins. Dornfelder is a grape that is native
to Germany, but thrives in our cool climate
Sta. Rita Hills vineyard. It produces
inky dark wines, chock full of dark fruit
flavors and spicy character. To our delight,
we found that these hardy grapes can also
produce an intense and intriguing dessert
wine when harvested late.
Just 480 bottles were produced of our
“Hafen” (“harbor”
in German).
